Database tools Live
Extensions, cron and queues for your Postgres
Turn on extensions from an allow-list of 16, schedule SQL with pg_cron and run durable queues with pgmq on any Postgres instance, from the portal, the API or plain SQL.
How it works
Database tools, step by step
- Step 01
Enable an extension
Pick from the allow-list in the portal or the API. Extensions that need a preload restart the instance once, and the portal tells you first.
- Step 02
Schedule jobs
Create cron jobs that run SQL or call an HTTPS endpoint, and see each run's result and duration.
- Step 03
Queue work
Create queues, send and read messages from SQL, the Data API or the portal, and archive what you processed.
- Step 04
Keep it in your database
Everything is ordinary Postgres objects in your instance, covered by your backups and your policies.
What you get
-
Extensions manager
vector, postgis, pg_cron, pgmq, pg_net, pg_graphql and 10 more, installed at the version you choose.
Live -

Live -
Queues
pgmq queues with visibility timeouts and archiving, depth and age per queue, reachable from the Data API.
Live -

Try it
Cron and queues are plain SQL once the extensions are on.
-- Every night at 03:00 UTC
select cron.schedule(
'expire-sessions', '0 3 * * *',
$$delete from sessions where expires_at < now()$$
);
-- A queue for outgoing emails
select pgmq.create('emails');
select pgmq.send('emails', '{"to": "[email protected]", "template": "welcome"}');
select * from pgmq.read('emails', 30, 10); -- hide for 30 s, read up to 10Plan availability
Generated from the same plan catalogue that billing and the API use.

Questions
Which engines get these tools?
Postgres and TimescaleDB instances. Other engines keep their own features, listed on each engine's page.
Can I install an extension that is not on the list?
Not yourself: every extension on the list is built, reviewed and tested on our images. Ask support for the one you need.
